As you drive down the 215 in Las Vegas, you can see it in the distant – a towering high-rise glimmering gold in the distance, sticking out like a sore thumb amongst the sea of small business and residents. Though it may be 10 minutes south of the Las Vegas Strip, the South Point Hotel and Casino is everything you could ask for out of a Sin City resort sans the potentially obnoxious crowd roaming the streets below.
Opened on December 22nd of 2005, the South Point hotel has successfully attracted a crowd of locals and outsiders alike with its fine arrangement of five star amenities and accommodations. A stay at the South Point hotel doesn’t come with all the added on bells and whistles that other hotels offer for higher rates and it most certainly doesn’t need them. The rooms at this fine resort are standard Guest Rooms and a more upgraded Guest Suite – you won’t find a vast array of room types all offering unnecessary tack-ons and overly extravagant décor.
South Point’s Guest Rooms are as high end as a basic hotel room can get. Each room offers 500 sq-ft of comfortable living space complete with a flat screen high definition television, a small table perfect for that early morning coffee, and a plush sofa that overlooks the South Point’s gorgeous views. These rooms are available with one king or two queen pillow top mattresses, which offer the highest end of comfort one could ask for.
Guests looking for a more spacious set-up can turn their attention to the South Point’s Guest Suites. These arrangements come in a variation of sizes, starting at 825 sq-ft all the way through 2,500 sq-ft. The Guest Suites are equipped with upgraded bathrooms, 42” plasma televisions, in-suite fax/printer/copier, and can include either one or two bedrooms. No matter what room you choose at the South Point, though, you’ll be guaranteed a free ride to and from McCarran International Airport.
Since the South Point is set a several miles away from the Strip, it’s important that the resort be self-sufficient in terms of entertaining its guests. On top of housing the Showroom where any number of acts, including the great Tony Orlando, will be performing weekly, the South Point is also home to its own Arena and Equestrian Center. At any given moment, the South Point could be hosting anything from a rodeo to a boxing match.
Outside of live performances, guests can find comfort poolside at the South Point’s own resort pool. A wading pool and hot tub create the perfect settings for those days of relaxation – and guests will be pleased by the convenience of a poolside deli. Beyond the pool, anybody looking to chow down on some grub can partake in fine and casual dining. From succulent steaks at the Silverado Steakhouse to Don Vito’s Italian cuisine to the quick and inexpensive eats at Steak n Shake, going hungry at South Point is not an option.
Though South Point may seem like a location made strictly for locals due to its placement, this off-the-Strip resort offers everything one would need for a week getaway.
